to see the world in a grain of sand

This installation features a pair of 3D printed chelsea boots with butterfly wings on the heels and a pair of deconstructed jeans with floral embroidery on the knees. Each piece is inspired by the whimsy of childhood and the curiosity it takes to believe in fairies. This work melds digital fabrication techniques with traditional ones: the chelsea boots are fully 3D printed except for the elastic, which is installed with traditional leather-working techniques, and the jeans are sewn and patterned in the traditional way, while the embroidery is sketched digitally and embroidered by machine.
