Printemps

I designed, patterned, and constructed this coat, modeled after a traditional trench coat with a combination raglan and set-in sleeve. The outer fabric is a wax cotton from Dakar, Senegal, and the coat features many welt pockets: two on the exterior, and two on the interior.

If you look closely, the pattern will reveal itself; the coat is covered with images of babies, eggs, chicks, and breasts, and the blue motifs might resemble a vulva. Spring is a time of growth, of birth, of fertility, thus the name: Printemps.
